So many ways to help restore, conserve and protect the remnant wilds of Kansas City!
Can’t make it to a workday but want to volunteer with Kansas City WildLands? Or maybe you have special skills you would be willing to share to keep KCWL restoration and conservation efforts running at peak performance?? Boy oh boy, do we need you!!!
Kansas City WildLands is looking for the following skills for specific short term and ongoing projects. Hours, time and locations are flexible.
- Tool sharpening and repair person (loppers and saws)
- Photographic monitor (work with KCWL Restoration Committee representatives to establish photo monitoring spots on KCWL sites and take survey photos twice a year)
- Speaker/ presenter for Kansas City WildLands' organization and mission (to table at events throughout the year and speak to groups throughout the metro – will train)
Kansas City WildLands also has a donation wish list. Some items are to replace worn equipment, and some items are to enhance volunteers’ work efficiency and safety. Direct donations or sponsorship of the following items, as well as all financial contributions to Kansas City WildLands, are tax deductible and VERY, VERY appreciated!
- Commercial grade by-pass loppers (one and one-half inch diameter cut minimum – one dozen)
- Commercial grade folding pruning saws (two dozen)
- Bow saws (one dozen)
- Work gloves (leather or leather palmed - six dozen pairs )
- Safety goggles (two dozen)
- Insect repellent (Deep Woods Off or equivalent - two cases)
- Water-based marking paint (one case)
- High-quality GPS unit
- Forestry flame torch
