Wild Butterflies in the WildLands

A variety of nectar-laden flowers, larval food plants, a pesticide-free landscape, and sunshine…these are basic butterfly needs. Kansas City WildLands offer all this and more.

Get Out There!

One of the benefits of volunteering with Kansas City WildLands is discovering that there ARE wild lands in Kansas City - beautiful, natural, vibrant and diverse places to explore and enjoy and breathe in.

Unlike Any Other… the Swope Park Trails

Swope Park Trails are a planned network of single-track mountain biking and hiking trails designed, constructed and managed by professional volunteers in partnership with Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation, Heartland Sports Promotions and Kansas City WildLands Partner, Earth Riders Trails Association (ERTA).

Getting People into Hidden Valley – Sustainably

In 2006, Hidden Valley Park received Public Improvements Advisory Committee funds to develop a master plan for the natural area and Big Muddy Workshop, a landscape architectural firm from Omaha, Nebraska, was hired to create it. Big Muddy had previous experience working with loess soils along the Missouri River.

Heads Up…

Starting in 2011, Kansas City Wildlands will be going green by going electronic.
